Want to polish, exfoliate and make your rough winter skin glow? A sea salt scrub is your answer! A sea salt scrub can remove that old, tired and dry skin to unveil healthier glowing skin. Always be sure to follow your sea salt scrub with a good moisturizer.
Sea salt has so many wonderful minerals and nutrients that it is terrific for the skin. Using coarse granules of sea salt in your salt scrub provides a mechanical means to whisk away those patches of dry, unsightly skin on legs and arms. Don't use this scrub on your delicate facial skin; it is much too vigorous to rub on your facial skin.
You can use any sea salt for the scrub, but if you want the extra benefits of Dead Sea Salt with its extremely high mineral content, you will make your sea salt scrub even more effective.
The recipe shown in the video works very effectively, but is a little boring. I would add a few drops of my favorite essential oil for a lovely aroma that helps mask the scent of the olive oil a bit.
Here is my own version of a sea salt scrub:
1/2 cup light textured oil such as sweet almond oil, or grapeseed oil. (Don't use the Mazola oil from your cupboard--too greasy!)
1 cup fine sea salt (not iodized.) Sugar can be substituted if you have very sensititive skin.
5-15 drops essential oils. Use one type alone or in combination. Orange/peppermint for example.
Place the salt (or sugar) in a small bowl and gradually add the oil while stirring. The mixture should have enough oil to hold together, but not be dripping with oil. Add your essential oils and stir in well.
That's it! Easy Peasy!
Use common sense and caution when you use a sea salt scrub, as they could easily make the surface of your bath tub or shower slippery due to the oil involved.
