Organic Bath Products Made at Home Save Money & Truly Are Organic
By Michelle Lee Summers
Organic bath products that you buy in specialty bath stores are undoubtedly gorgeous; however, they are also outrageously expensive as well. The mark up on these types of spa products range anywhere from 600-2000%! The good news is that there is a multitude of organic products that you can make right at home to enjoy in your bath. There’s no good reason to pay outrageous prices for these products.
Organic bath products such as bath bombs, bath salts and bath teas can be made easily at home for mere pennies compared to their commercial counterparts. Bath salts are such a simple product; they consist primarily of Epsom and/or sea salt, and baking soda. Sometimes they contain glycerin for added moisturizing effects and essential or fragrance oils for fragrance, as well as colorants if desired. You can make up a batch from start to finish in mere minutes. If you really want to get fancy, you can divide up your batch into smaller zip lock bags and add color separately to each one. Then, you can spoon your finished salts into your containers in layers for a designer effect.
Organic bath products sold in stores may or may not really be organic. Did you know that cosmetics manufacturers can put an organic label on their products if the contain at least 70% organic ingredients? That still leaves 30% of their product that can contain synthetic fragrances and colorants, artificial fillers and preservatives. So much for looking for that “all natural” label!
By making your products at home, you can ensure that they really are organic bath products. You can buy your supplies from suppliers who certify their ingredients as from being from organic sources. You may pay a little extra for this, but you are well assured that anything going into your bath and coming into contact with your skin is from pure and natural ingredients.
