Creating a brown sugar scrub is so easy. All the ingredients are right there in your pantry; no need for a trip to the store to buy a bunch of exotic ingredients. It is also so simple and easy to create. You won’t believe that you have never tried it before! Another benefit is that you can save so much money making your own scrubs compared to what you pay for similar products that are loaded with unnecessary chemical ingredients in the stores.

A brown sugar scrub is an inexpensive, yet effective way to exfoliate that dry winter skin that is bothering you right now. With the constant running of central heating systems in the winter months, it is all too easy for the skin to become dehydrated, dry and itchy. Scratching your back, arms and legs at every opportunity isn’t very attractive, so why not give your skin a treat and cure that itchiness at the same time?

As well as exfoliating your skin, a brown sugar scrub also moisturizes from the wonderful oils in the recipe. You can use a common oil such as olive or grapeseed oil straight from your cupboard, or choose to use a more exotic oil such as jojoba oil that has additional moisturizing benefits. You can also add essential oils to your recipe to make custom-scented scrubs that have the additional therapeutic properties of these oils. If you are feeling adventurous, why not experiment with the different types of brown sugar that are available? You might like the results from a Demerara sugar better than you would the results from a Turbinado sugar, but you will never know until you try!

If you like the results from your brown sugar scrub, you can also try other scrub recipes as well. A very popular and easy scrub to make is a sea salt scrub. It is a bit more of an aggressive scrub than a sugar scrub is, so be such to use it only on the body. Your facial skin is too delicate to apply the coarse grains of salt in contained in a sea salt scrub recipe.

Without further ado, here is a brown sugar scrub recipe:

* 1 Cup Brown Sugar
* 1/2 Cup Sweet Almond Oil (Can also substitute other oils; jojoba is very nice)
* 1 tsp Vitamin E (You can pierce a couple of capsules to use in this)
* 1/2-1 tsp Vanilla Extract, or 5 drops essential oil
