All Natural Baby Products: Pamper & Protect Baby’s Skin

There is nothing in the world as soft and delicate as a baby's skin. The skin of babies and young children are very sensitive to fragrances, colorants and preservatives that are common additives to commerical baby care products. You can make your own baby oils, lotions and powders that avoid the use of these chemicals that are so harmful to babies skin.

A wonderful source of all natural baby care recipes can be found at From Nature With Love.

In particular, you can easily avoid using commercial baby oil which is derived from mineral oils. A great alternative is
sweet almond oil, preserved with only a few vitamin E capsules. Simply measure out a 1/2 cup or so into a clean, sanitized bottle and add the contents of three vitamin E capsules. The vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that will help to keep your almond oil from becoming rancid. Other oils that can be used are olive oil, grapeseed and sunflower oils.

A very nice alternative to talcum powder is provided by Maggie Julseth Howe of www.prairielandherbs.com. This is her recipe for "Baby Bum Powder":

1 cup arrowroot powder 1 tbsp. dried ground chamomile 1 tbsp. dried ground lavender. Place these in a plastic ziplock bag and knead together thoroughly. Place in an empty shaker container. (You can find arrowroot powder here .

Yes, that's it! See how easy it can be? You can easily make creams and lotions for baby's delicate skin as well.

Don't let the big companies fool you into thinking that they are the only viable source of skincare products for your baby.
